Second Bible Flip Through + New Bible Comparison

Happy Groundhog’s day everyone! I hope you feel you’ve gotten your year off to a good start. I’m excited because I got a new journaling bible this month! That means I have a bible flip through for you and some reflections. Plus, a new journaling bible recommendation for you, now that I’ve put my new on to use.

Out With The Old…

It’s been less than a year that I’ve had this bible, but I had filled this one so full that there was no more room to add another page! It was an odd transition this time though. I was so excited to get my ESV bible in March and was ready to use a new bible. This time however, I was kind of struggling to move on to my new bible. The first one felt incomplete, in spite of it being so thick it couldn’t be kept properly closed.

I was trying to figure out why I didn’t feel ready to transition and then it hit me. As I filled in this bible, there were several major themes I had focused on and I didn’t feel like God was done teaching me about those things. As you watch the flip through below you might notice several pages with common themes of humility, trusting in God’s faithfulness, obedience to his call and embracing blessings.

For some reason I got hung up on feeling like I wasn’t ready to move on from those themes… Then I realized how silly that was because I can have two bibles with the same themes. It may be that I have to have five bible’s before I’m ready to move on to another concept. And that’s ok. So after stalling for a little I was able to finally move on and make the transition.

In With The New…

I started my new bible: a black covered NLT Reflections Bible. I decided to try this one because it was similar to the ESV Single Column in that it has one column with the wide margin. The main difference is the pages are white and obviously they are in a different translation. I’ve also noticed the margins are actually a little bit larger than the ESV and the bible itself is just slightly bigger.

So far I’ve been enjoying this bible a lot. The white pages allow colors to pop more and the extra space in the margins is never a bad thing. So far I haven’t had a problem with bleed-through using the supplies I know to not cause bleed through in my ESV. Overall, I would recommend it if you aren’t picky about translation and if you are interested in trying out white pages.

I started this bible off by painting the cover (speaking of which, did you know we are selling hand painted bibles in our shop?) and doing the dedication page. In my previous bible I did a “permissions page”. However, for this bible I wanted to do more of a dedication page. I wanted to take some time to reflect on the purpose of this bible and what goals I have for the time I spend in the pages. I ended up writing a prayer and using our Faith heirlooms Cutout Ephemera and I really like the way it turned out.

Flip-Through…

And now, without further ado here is the flip through of my recently full bible. I also added a quick visual comparison of the two bibles as well as a flip-through of the first few pages I’ve done in it. Hope you enjoy!
