The Illustrating Bible! First Impressions

Happy New year friends! I hope you enjoyed the holidays with your family, I know we did!

For our first post of the year I wanted to share my first impressions of the Illustrating Bible. I’ve been so excited about this bible since it was first announced early last year! A bible made with the bible journaler specifically in mind is a dream.

I’ve been a little hesitant to pull the trigger and buy the bible since it is a little spendy. But when Leah text me and let me know that our Lifeway store had two more in stock, and on sale, I thought I better pounce on the deal! I’m happy to say that they are now out of stock, as Leah and I both jumped at the idea of a sale!

Let me start by first saying, the Illustrating Bible comes in a beautiful, sturdy box for safe keeping. Usually I don’t keep boxes, but I might keep this one to keep my bible safe from curious little three year old hands. The box is big enough to accommodate all the fun tabs and page markers we love so much.

The cover and the coil of this bible are probably my favorite. I have a soft spot for rose gold, so it speaks to my soul. I love the stitching around the edges of the cover. It really is one of the most beautiful bibles I’ve ever seen.

I’ve only ever had bibles with cream colored pages so I’m excited for these white pages. Which are also thicker than a traditional bibles pages. I’ve never had much trouble with bleed through, but there are some pages where you can see a dark shadow of what’s on the page behind. I will be curious to see how these thicker pages are with paint and pen.

Probably the best feature, and the one I’m most excited about, is that it is spiral bound. This allows the bible to lay flat. This will be great not only for creating in, but for photographing. The coil is large enough to allow plenty of creating and still close flat.

This bible also boasts an almost 4 inch margin. Talk about space to create! If I’m honesty, it makes me a little nervous having so much space. I’ve talked before about the page anxiety I had with my interleaved bible. It’s funny actually, when I really think about it. But I am looking forward to having a little more space for lettering and alpha stickers, while still having the scriptures on the page.

The Illustrating bible is currently out of stock online, so you’ll have to wait it out a couple months to get your hands on one. But I definitely think it’s worth it! It is a beautifully made bible. I am really excited to dive into creating in it!
